Safe Steps Collective Launch 2026/27
On 8 October 2026, BloomWell Collective and the University of Nottingham Feminist Society welcomed students to the launch of Safe Steps Collective event for this year, an evening of wellbeing, mindfulness and connection.
Between lectures, deadlines, sports, societies and internships, university life can feel like a lot. Safe Steps was created as a student-led space for female students at Nottingham to pause, connect and feel supported, because belonging shouldn’t depend on your grades or your timetable.
An Evening of Connection
We began with an icebreaker and a round of speed friending, and the room soon filled with conversation and laughter as new faces became new friends. Ramat Seghosime of BloomWell Collective then led a guided mindfulness reset, gently inviting everyone to slow down and settle in.
Students then drew an affirmation card and wrote down the words they most needed to hear. Here are a few that moved us:
“Everything will work out in the end”
🌸
“I am surrounded with people that I love + care for”
🌸
“Take time to enjoy living in the moment”
🌸
“Everything will work out in the end” 🌸 “I am surrounded with people that I love + care for” 🌸 “Take time to enjoy living in the moment” 🌸
A few simple words, yet a gentle reminder that we are worthy of the same kindness we give to others
What Students Told Us
Of the 20 students who shared their well-being feedback with us:
80% of students feel connected to a community where they feel understood and supported.
95% know they have women they can talk to openly when things are weighing on them
85% feel they have a space and people to turn to before things get overwhelming
55% felt calm and relaxed over the past two weeks
“It was very informative and really nice to meet a range of different people!”

What’s Next
Throughout the year, Safe Steps will bring yoga, dance, meditation, lakeside walks, wellbeing circles and more. Our next wellbeing event takes place on 20 October 2026, in collaboration with Yoga Soc. Whether you came along this time or are curious to find out more, you are always welcome.
Thank You
Thank you to everyone who joined us, for bringing such openness and kindness into the room. Thank you to the UoN Feminist Society for their energy and leadership, and to our volunteers and facilitators for helping create a space that felt safe and welcoming.
A special thank you to Lush for generously providing free products for our goodie bags, a thoughtful touch that made every new member of the Safe Steps Collective feel celebrated
Safe Steps brings students together in a community peer circle, a gentle, early place to turn to before things feel too much. This first evening showed us how much students value spaces to connect, talk openly and feel they belong.
To every woman in the BloomWell Collective community and to anyone considering joining: you are welcome here. Whatever you are carrying, you do not have to carry it alone.
We are looking for partners, supporters and funders who share our belief that early, community-based wellbeing support matters, to help us bring Safe Steps to more students, more often.
The conversations started at Safe Steps, and the steps continue. We can’t wait to take the next one with you.
Women’s wellbeing. Built in community.
